Chance Encounter Part 2
Around the corner from my place was a liquor store that was conveniently on the way, so it was easy to just pop in there, grab my bottle of wine and head home. I should have been really on top of the world. I just had a wonderful night with my friends, but I was a little sad at the missed opportunity.
A nice man in front of me opened the door, so I walked in thanking him for being such a gentleman and proceeded to head to the aisle I had many times before to grab my special bottle of cab-sav. It was still early, and I decided me, my cat Roxy would cuddle up and watch a few movies with my wine. As I came upon the aisle I was heading towards I heard a low voice come from behind me.
“Excuse me” I heard a man say with a really low sexy voice “I think you dropped something.”
I looked behind me and there he was, the man I ran smack-dab into at the pub standing in front of me with a big sheepish grin on his face. I quickly looked down at my purse, and everything seemed to be intact. I could feel the butterflies in my stomach starting to go and I could feel my face getting flushed once again. This time I wasn’t going to let my anxiety get the better of me. I took a deep breath and looked up at him with a really coy smile.
“I don’t think I dropped anything.” My purse was closed and I didn’t walk in with anything else so I honestly was a little confused about what he meant.
“Well,” he stopped for a minute, cleared his throat and handed me a piece of paper “You definitely have it all intact,” he paused, while a big grin came across his face. “All but this”, he said as he handed me a piece of folded up paper.
He looked down at the floor for a moment. It seemed like he was shy, but he looked right back up at me again, locking eyes to see what I would say.
I started to walk towards the counter with my bottle of wine, casually looking behind me to see if he was following me and he was. I giggled a little as I put the bottle of wine underneath my arm and opened the piece of paper he had given me. Turned out it was his name and phone number, and a little scribble underneath that said ‘I would really like to talk to you’ 😊. He made sure he put a smiley face at the end.
His name was Jason. I couldn’t help but smile now. I am pretty sure I was grinning from ear to ear. I was next up to the counter, so I went up to pay, and this time I looked right behind me, and he was right there with the same bottle of wine, and the same kind of smile I had. I think I must have stared at him and vice versa for at least 30 seconds, until the clerk piped up. “How would you like to pay Miss?”
I snapped out of our gaze for a minute, rifled through my purse for my debit card, paid for my wine and stood to the side while he paid for his purchase. We walked out the door together and just stood there looking at each other with this goofy looks on our faces. I knew it was because we were both really nervous. I had never had a guy have this kind of affect on me before. I wanted to play it really cool, but at the same time I didn’t want to let this kind of moment pass by with nothing said either.
I was still holding the piece of paper in my hand that had his number in it. I looked down and then looked up at him. I took a big deep breath and with a heir of confidence I spoke. “My name is Allyson by the way.” Before he could speak I continued “So… I am actually just heading home to have a couple drinks, would you like to come and sit on the rooftop patio at my building and we can talk and have a couple glasses of wine?” I pointed towards the building that was directly in our view behind us, to show him where I lived.
With a big smile on his face he leaned over and gave me a kiss on the cheek, and said “Lead the way Allyson.” He winked at me and gestured with his hand for us to start walking.
I inched a little closer beside him as we started walking, and out of now where he grabbed my hand. It should have felt weird, especially not knowing this man at all, but yet it felt my hand was meant to be in his.
We talked as we walked, and we crossed the parking lot. He stopped in his tracks like I had said something wrong. I looked at him as he moved in front of me. “I can’t wait to do this anymore”, he said.
“Do what?” asked him. Before I could even get another thought in he grabbed me by my waist, and pulled me into him, leaned down and kissed me. The kiss blew me away. It made me dizzy and weak in the knees.
When he pulled back a little from the kiss, I had to steady myself from falling. He grabbed my hand again, but this time he held it a little tighter and started walking again with me. Neither of us had any words in that moment. I just looked over at him, and he had the same big smile I had going on, and he looked flush. He looked back over at me, and I could tell that there was something pretty amazing going on between us. I had a feeling it was going to be a long night coastlinelivingphotography.com
